Here is my June calendar. I was so hoping to start

with sunshine but woke to rain. Maybe by the end

of the day.....

May all finished and really lots of sunshine.

For those who read the last post, I am doing
well. Threw the crutches out the window, went
to a cane and today it's out the window too. LOL

The Last of EDiM.... I made it!

I am sad they eneded it with draw something your afraid

and write about it. I think a happier note is called for.

I don't normally write about health issues as I like

fun happy things. But today I was taken to the Dr.

because I could not walk on my left foot. The pain was bad.

After ex-rays they found no broken bones and decided

I was having an attack of gout. I said what?

So I am home with crutches and medicine sitting at the

computer reading about this thing called gout.

Mmmmm I just don't know.... I don't eat all the things

they say not to.... I don't eat fatty stuff,etc, etc etc!

So we will see. Just wish the pain would stop.

Anyway as they say " Stiff Upper Lip Deary'!

Memorial Day & the Garden

May we always remember.

I've been back at it in the garden,

weeding away. But with all the rhodies

blooming it's not to hard on the eyes.

Here's a few of what's blooming.

These exbury azaleas were suppose to be light yellow.

Imagine my surprise.....!

French Lavender from my son!

These are now close to 20 feet high.

Surprisingly the goldfish wintered well

and there are many more than before...

They must have been partying under the

ice and snow.

Still waiting for more baby birds to take flight.
No sooner did I write this and another butterball
took flight. I must say he was a low flyer. LOL

A Special Day & EDiM

Yesterday was sunny and very warm so I

decided to work in the garden. I have many

birdhouses about the property. They are

usually filled to capacity and you sure

know when the babies are born.

Peep, peep, peep and momma and dad

flying in with food every few minutes.

I am always sad when the babies take

flight and everything is quiet. Sad

because I never see the little ones leave.

That is until yesterday. Mom was rushing

food to them and there was one who

kept peeking out. You could see his big mouth

and little feathered head.

Mom at the feeder.

Mom flew to the feeder and all of a

sudden here came baby right behind.

Little wings flapping so hard, landing

at the feeder. He never stopped flapping

those wings and was very wobbly . Cute

as a button. Then he flew into a bush

with mom following, probably giving

flight lessons. It made my day.

Then to my surprise the grosbeaks

showed up. I call them the parrots

of my forest

They are very colorful and always fun to watch.

This bird house I built and put up almost 19

years ago. Every time I want to take it down for

maintenance it is occupied. So there it sits

with moss and lichen growing on it.

I wonder if I will see more babies take flight

today.

May 27th. Draw some clouds & write

about it.

New Art Supplies....

My trip to Seattle last Friday was to Dick Blicks.

That store is like a candy store to me filled with
such wonderful things.
I can do (and I did) some serious damage to
my art funds......
I mentioned that my trip was not without, shall we say
incidents!
I live East of Seattle in the Cascade foothills so
driving in Seattle can be challenging at times.
This is my list for last Friday...
1. Got stuck in the dark tunnel I-90 for
45 minutes due to an accident.
(now why couldn't I have been stuck
looking at Lake Washington instead
of the dark tunnel with a bunch of big trucks?
2. Turned left behind Dick Blicks to come
head on with Seattle police car taking up the whole
road. (I panicked thinking I had turned into a one way-
the wrong way. Wrong he just wanted the
whole road to give some guy a ticket.
3. Had to park in a very dark (scary)
parking garage.
4. Went a little crazy at DB's depleting my budget
for 2012 thru 2013.....
5. Back in the car trying to leave the very scary
dark garage. Paid my money but the bar wouldn't
raise up to let me out. Took 2 phone calls, where they
asked for all this info (thought they were
going to ask for my birth certificate & fingerprints)
before they finally opened the bar 15 minutes later.
6. Took a wrong turn and drove about 8 miles
before the gray cells clicked in and I had to turn around.
7. As I approached the tunnel on I-90 going home I was
passed by a firetruck and ambulances. Yup another accident
just at the start of the tunnel. Traffic was down to 5miles an hour
through the tunnel ( but at least it didn't stop)!
What should have been a quick trip turned out to be 5 1/2 hours.
Next time I shall bring food,water,a book, and a porta potty.
The piece at the top of this lon-n-n-n-ng dissertation was done with my
new Inktense pencils. Am having fun experimenting with
all my purchases.

This is part of my drafting

This is on a parkway I was driving on

one dark windy night. It was beautiful

but didn't give off much light..

Once again I am playing catch up as I had

to go into the big city of Seattle Friday.

I don't like driving into Seattle because

something always happens and DH rolls

his eyes and always says, "Only to you would

this happen!" I shall try to post about my

adventure of the big city soon. It is

good for a laugh.....

EDiM May 16th

Today the instructions were to draw a store in the neighborhood.

So I drew the "BLACK DOG" cafe. They also have entertainment in

the evenings. They show local artist work too. I have paintings

there right now. The food is so good, with homemade breads,

bar-b-que, and special dishes everyday. Just plain Yummy!!!

This painting shows just part of the cafe as I am painting

on small papers.

Playing Catch UP...

I certainly fell behind on posting these.

But I was on a deadline to get my

paintings framed and delivered.

So indulge me this one time .... OK

Yes I am one day ahead.

I thought today was the 15th!

Well it is somewhere, isn't it.!?!

Hope you all had a great weekend and Mother's Day

for those that are mothers. We had sunshine

80 degree temps and a wonderful time. This year my

son took me to brunch, helped me in the garden and

we all had yummy Thai food for dinner. In other

words I was spoiled rotten.

We finished out the evening watching

"Midnight in Paris". What a fun crazy movie.

I am off to the garden with a large

Raspberry lemonade!

The assignment was draw a present you have

received. Why is it special.

I had wanted this book forever. I mentioned

it to my son one day and I didn't think he

was listening. He just said oh that sounds

nice. (he had other things on his mind)!

Well my birthday rolled around and he gave

me some beautiful flowers and said something was

coming in the mail.

Soon this arrived and was I surprised.

What a sweetheart, he was listening.

The book is fabulous.

My New Years Resolution was to make more

handmade journals. So far so good!

I enjoy working in these journals as I have

more control over size, paper and bindings.

Well April left in a torrential down pour!

Lets hope May will be nicer.

So here is my May. As you can see all hopeful with lots of flowers.

My filled in April. Filled with lots of rain, though there were

some really nice days too.

I had so much fun last year doing EDiM that I'm back to do it again.

EDiM stands for Every Day In May. Each day they tell you what to

draw, paint, etc and you take it from there.

So May 1's instruction was to draw or paint a landscape.

I Wrote This Before, I Think It's Time For a Repeat

Love this - I hope you do too.

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck.

One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.
At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water.
Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments.
But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.

After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream.

'I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house.'
The old woman smiled, 'Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?'

'That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them.'

For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table.

Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house.'

Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding.

You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.

SO, to all of my cracked pot friends, have a great day and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the path!

Tulips of the Skagit Valley

I found this on U-Tube and thought you would enjoy

seeing the wonderful show we get to see every year

from up in the Skagit Valley. I hope to make it up there

before they are all gone.

You will have to turn off my music so you can hear theirs!

Back to my garden for more weeding. :-(

It was in the 70's...No kidding! (or how I spent Easter)

We went to West Seattle to walk on the beach,search for

sea glass, enjoy the 70 degree weather. Of course we had to stop by

Duckies Rule! This man decorates for all the holidays with ducks.

Some of these ducks sing and it is very entertaining.

Looking back at downtown Seattle across the water.

I live in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains

you see behind the Space Needle.

Then we drove back to Seattle and up on

Queen Anne to get this photo.

The opposite side of the Needle and more of

downtown. We finished off our adventure

at a Thai restaurant by Greenlake. Yummy.

The sun just made our day!

Painting Pears...yes pears

I am enjoying my Pearology class taught by

Martha Lever. She says we will all

be pearologist when we are done.

Pearologist... maybe. But in the mean time

they make me hungry. Really hungry.

I must say March had some very strange weather.

We actually had a day where it was in the 60's one minute

and snowing the next.

A girl just doesn't know what to wear.

Let's hope April is a bit nicer.

But I will be prepared!!!!

It feel so empty but I hope to fill it up with lots of

sunshine and fun events.

This was done with watercolors,a stencil,permanent

inks and copic markers.

Rainy Day work

It was cold and rainy when I woke. Instead of rolling

over I slipped on my slippers and headed to the

studio for a little painting. It always warms

my soul. I have always loved D'Angelos quote,

"Wherever you go,no matter what the weather,

always bring your own sunshine."

It works for me...how about you?
