A Trip To Pike Place Market

On Friday after lunch with the posse, Hazel (girl posse leader) and I drove into Seattle to Pike Place Market. It is a wonderful place to go shop or just visit. It is over 100 years old, a place where farmers bring their produce, flower growers bring there lovely flowers, artists have booths of there products, the tea shops, restaurants, bookshops, you name it, it is there. It is home of the flying fish. You buy a fish and they toss the fish through the air to the guy behind the counter. They sing and holler and carry on (not the fish but the guys LOL). Everyone stands around trying to catch a photo. I tried but I don't think you can see the flying fish. The sun came out for a short time. Yes sunshine.

Sunshine On the brick roadway!!!!!

This is the resident pig. She is dearly loved. Children love to climb on her and as you can see older people like to lean on her for a short rest. She is actually a piggy bank to support friends of the market. I always stop and give her a pat and some change.

As you can see the produce is a work of art all by itself. It is just beautiful and so fresh and good.

The market is always filled with people. The tiles on the floor are unique. Each tile was purchased and inscribed with the donors name during a drive to save the market many years ago.

Tulips and daffodils. Just beautiful.

More veggies!!!!

One of the fish mongers. He has the BEST smoked salmon you have ever tasted. I have mine hidden in the fridge. Just look at the size of those scallops.

This is the home of the flying fish. The fellow back behind all the fish has just caught one. I just wasn't quick enough with the camera. Wish you could hear them all doing there singing.

One of the wonderful shops downstairs. This was a polish shop.

With wonderful pottery and art.

Beautiful pottery and look at the peacock!

Well time to head home. The sun has left us and a nasty storm is headed across the sound. There is a ferry heading for the islands. Hope you enjoyed the market.

HB and I lived in Edmonds for awhile and I used to love going to Seattle and Pike Place Market. The flying fish are something to see! But there's always so many goodies and beautiful crafts and it's just a wonderful place to visit. Thanks for bringing back so many memories.
