That's what I've been up to since 98 degrees is a little to hot for

me. I do run out and fill the birdbaths and feeders for my fine

feathered friends. I have a chickadee that has delivered a batch

in the birdhouse right off our deck. She is exhausted trying to feed 

them all. Yesterday one baby appeared at the opening and he was huge.

I fear he better fly soon or he won't be able to get out.

He is twice the size of his momma.

Life is always amazing to me.

I've been experimenting

 I have been trying new things. The watercolor above

was started with a sketch, then traced using acrylic white gesso 

that I had put into my gutta bottle with a tiny fine tip. I let it dry

 and then proceeded with the watercolor, painting the 

background first. I did this on 140lb watercolor paper in my 

Sketchbookery hand made journal. I think I would do this process

again only using a larger format.

 I do like how this turned out even though it felt strange painting

watercolor on canvas.  I used Daniel Smith watercolor grounds on

 the canvas letting it dry for 24 hours. It really has a different feel to it

when painting. Very different from wc paper. Will try this again.

 I was looking at different blogs I like. This one gal is a oil painter.

She paints with a palette knife. So out came my acrylics and I 

gave it a try. There is a lot of paint on this canvas. LOL

(sorry about the shine)

It was fun. I shall keep practicing with the palette knife,

it takes some getting used to.

So that's what I've been up to.

Spring is Almost Here...

I was working in the yard and this little lady caught my eye.  A sure sign of Spring coming soon.

Back in the house, I just had to share my orchid with you. Every year it starts to bloom at

Christmas. Well this year it has just kept on blooming. There are now 30 flowers on it.

This one has been blooming since last March when a girlfriend gifted it to me for my birthday.

I spent some time in the studio making (playing) backgrounds for some future art.

The sun is out and shining bright so I shall be in the yard. 

They say we are to get some snow over the weekend.

I sure hope not.
