Summer of Color Brown

I was in a panic when I saw "BROWN".
Did I have any dead flowers around
the place ,was my first thought.
Silly girl... then a ah-ha moment...
My chocolate Cosmos from
The Chocolate Farm on
Whidbey Island.
Then I remembered  my Gypsy Dancer.
No not a gypsy dancing through the
garden but my Coral Bells by that name.
It actually is darker than how I painted
it. But I wanted to show the veining in
those brown coppery leaves. It has
tiny coral bells on long delicate stems.
The Chocolate Farm is a wonderful place
and they even have the most darling shop
in Langley , a cute small town on Whidbey Island WA.
I added the link if you want to peak at all their
chocolate flowers. It is a fun place.
My piece is an addition to my Grow Journal as is
watercolor and pen and ink. My bold shot of color
is the lime green centers on the chocolate cosmos.
Yes they have lime green centers. Yes they do!
Thanks Kristin for another fun week.

Just beautiful Sharon! I did not know there was such a thing as Chocolate Cosmos, but I am going to look for some for next year.
I love this little painting, it has an almost vintage look to it that makes it so charming! I can see it framed and hanging on a bedroom wall by a window with billowing sheer, white curtains...wow, what a wonderful image!

I guess I've said this before, Sharon, but I don't know how you do it all! These paintings are lovely, and it sounds like you have been very busy in your garden as well.
We have a bear on our property, and I see it's footprints from time to time, but I also talk and sing when I'm walking around in the forest so I won't surprise it! :)
I'm off to visit the link you shared... have a lovely one!
Hugs,
Zuzu

Your watercolor images are beautiful. I bought a postcard watercolor book, hoping to attempt painting at some point but it is something I've never done before. I'm always inspired by work like yours. Best wishes, Tammy

Interestingly, I find myself using more brown in my work over the last number of years. Think I prefer "chocolate" though....

That sounds like one place I really need to visit someday!! I love your drawings. We lived in Seattle for a year (Snohomish) and I SO miss the rain and all the wonderful growth. Thanks for sharing your lovely art! ~Scarlett
