Summer of Color Yellow

I planted these Iris 15 years ago and
am delighted they still come up and
put on a show.
I mixed Pearl Ex powder in with yellow
and some of the green to get a metallic
look on parts of the flower. That's why the close
up as it doesn't really show above.
Sort of shows up at the centers. Hard to get in a photo.
Here are some photo's of this little gem.
I have two filler plants that are little
work horses in hanging baskets so had to add them in.
So this is my yellow Summer of Color.
If you care to join in just click on the button
on my sidebar.
HAPPY 4TH EVERYONE!!!!

Ha! Your comment cracked me up - you can't draw dirt? Hmm . . . well, it will be interesting to see what happens here ;) Your piece is beautiful - I love the elegant lines and bold color here. It is really so pretty. Thank you for everything, xo

What a beautiful Iris, and the painted one to, I'm enjoying your paintings. Have a nice 4th, I just watered the canyon as we had a fire from "unknowns" way below us but I'm not taking any chances :)

Great sketches! Wish I could draw flowers - more than just a basic loopy daisy anyway. These feel very summery and definitely do yellow proud!

We are really enjoying out big yellow irises that grow at the edge of the ponds. We started planting them three years ago and they are glorious - just like yours!

I love these irises. Mine are blooming at the moment. I actually sketched them into my journal last year and then made a mixed media canvas with them as the focal point for an exhibition. They are such a lovely flower! Julie

You're really good at capturing the beauty of your flowers, not only in your paintings, but in your photographs, as well. Love them, they remind me of old style nature journals.
