The Dear Deer

I should have known when they started showing up along with the elk
that the weather was going to turn cold. Yesterday the sun came
out after a down pour on Friday that even the frogs were looking for
umbrellas. Overnight it turned cold and the snow is just above our home.
Mt. Si is covered, beautiful but it is time for Spring, please.
The deer certainly enjoyed the apples I tossed out. We never will
try to had feed as I don't want them to become to trusting of humans.
There is no hunting in our area. It is just agreed upon when you move here.
I am happy for that. It's Sunday night and I shall be having
Downton Abbey withdrawals :-(.

Lovely drawing and writing. I do so enjoy your journals. When I make apple pie I use my handy dandy apple peeler/corer/slicer - it makes long skinny pieces of peel and I throw the cores and peels out on the lawn for the deer. It is fun to watch them eat the long strips - sometimes they look at me with the strips hanging from their mouth. They always clean it all up - they are very tidy deer (or very hungry).

Good Morning Sharon, I have enjoyed looking at your cards this morning. It is fun to watch the animals that come into your yard. I miss some now with all of the houses built up around us. I bet the snow on the mountain is a pretty scene. Have a wonderful day. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.

Sweet little drawing. In person the deer are very sweet...however they are voracious when it comes to eating our landscape. Creative Hearts are Happy Hearts...

I'm sure that they appreciated their extra find.

Yes, I had Downton Abbey withdrawals last night, too, yet there was no way that I was going to watch that final program over again. No way.

We get deer now and again but you've most definitely captured this one. I must admit, I am tired of the cold and could do with the warmth of spring. I'm going through Downton withdrawals also and we have another YEAR to wait!

Ah those sweet deer - never have really understood how anyone could shoot them (you can tell I am no hunter). Great sketch - always enjoy your sketchbook.
