I've had more fun today after reading
an article by Frances H Alford, I just had
to try this. Above is a gelatine mold I made.
I simply mixed two envelopes to one cup cold water.
I used 6 envelopes and 3 cups water for this pie plate.
Heated it to a boil, stirring, stirring and more stirring
until dissolved. But do not boil very long or you will
scorch the gelatine. Pour into mold, refrigerate til firm.
Loosen the edges and I turned it onto freezer paper. This
can be tricky, one must be patient (LOL). Let it
set , so it dries on the surface. Now the fun begins!!!
Gently spread fabric paint (I used Golden Fluid Acrylics)
onto the gelatine form. I squirted, painted and used tools
to move the paint around very gently. You don't want to
scratch or chip the gelatine.
Place your fabric over the gelatine
and smooth from the center out.

Lift and lay out to dry.
(I placed them on more freezer paper.)
When they dry I shall add marking pens,
copic markers, quilting free hand, beads etc.
Cut them into shapes and make a fiber art
quilt. This was a lot of fun. The neat thing about it was
I washed off the gelatine "plate" and covered it with plastic
wrap, put it back in the pie plate and refrigerated it for more
painting. So it's good for a little while!
I shall have to put a note on it,
"DO NOT EAT!"
