I was so hoping we could avoid fires.
We have been so dry with only one
morning of rain in a long long time.
Sadly Mt. Si that I look at everyday
caught fire on Friday afternoon and is
still burning.
They have been dropping water by helicopter
trying to contain it. It is traveling up the
mountain into the wilderness. Hard to get
to by foot. It is across the valley from me and we
are safe. But it is so sad to see the trees go up
in flames, not to mention the wildlife.
We were coming home Saturday eve and I snapped
these shots. They have closed the mountains

We had dinner in Snoqualmie across from the old
train depot.
On weekends you can ride the train through the valley
to North Bend and back.
They just finished up a weekend of
Thomas the Tank.
The children go wild for this event and I love to
watch all the comings and goings. It is a fun time
for all.
Well back to my sketching and painting and watching the fire.

Hi Sharon, It is sad to see the fires. We are finally getting some much needed rain. It has rained all day, but not really hard. The temperature stayed in the 60's. I do hope the fire is squelched very quickly. Our precious Idyllwild was saved recently from a huge fire of over 27,000 acres. The train event looks like a lot of fun. Blissful sketching...
It is always disconcerting to have a wildfire "in the neighborhood"...praying that it is contained and put out soon. Oh don't the children love Thomas?! I am nearly broken hearted that my grands have moved on.

Oh how I hate those forest fires. All I can think about is the poor animals. Hopefully their instincts keep them safe. Glad your home is safe. Loves from The Queen

Ever since I heard about this fire, I've been worried about you. I hope they contain it quickly and am glad at least that it's not a threat to you. (Is it going up the mountain and away from civilization? It has been so dry here, hasn't it? Take care.
Sharon - I am glad you are safe but so sad to think about the destruction of the beautiful mountains and trees.
On a lighter note loved seeing the train. There is something special about these locomotives that make one think of a bye gone era. Take care and have a wonderful day.
